What is eating disorder
Eating disorders are a very big topic. In the past, there were three main types of eating disorders that were known: Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating Disorder. It is important to note that the term ” Nervosa ” is used here. The word nervosa itself has no particular meaning, as its Latin root is nervous, which is used here to express a tendency towards psychologically addictive behaviour, also known as psychological addi addiction to a certain behaviour.
Surveys show that the number of people suffering from eating disorders is increasing every year, with women suffering more than men and adolescents more likely to suffer than adults, while anorexia nervosa is the most deadly of the mental disorders, accounting for 5-20% of deaths, 20% of which are due to suicide and 80% of which are due to physical complications from organ failure.
